The Hon. Sir Maui Pomave, M.P., is reported to be still making good progress toward recovery. The lit. Hon. J. G. Coates (Leader of the Opposition) arrived _ at Christchurch from Wellington this morning. He will address a meeting of the Canterbury Divisional Executive of the Reform Party this evening. To-mor-row evening Mr Contes will address n general meeting of supporters of fthe Party. Sir George Hunter, MJP., who suffered a sudden breakdown in the House of Representatl%3B last session, expects to be in his seat when Parliament opens again. He is now taking daily walks, as well as motor-car drives, and is in close touch with his electoral duties. > 1 Sir George Elliot (chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand) returned from Sydney by the IJlimaroa, which reached Wellington on Tuesday. A London cablegram states that Lord Baden-Powell (Chief Scout) is to sail for Australia on January. 16, 1931. Mr G. C. Bonnington who has been in Australia for the last two years, returned to Ash burton yesterday. The appointment of Mr Howard D. O. Adams, LL.B., as assistant law draftsman, ia. gazetted (says a Press Association message from Wellington).
