The wicket was fast and the outfield good. Wellington, with an over-night score of 122 for six, resumed their second innings. Ward (0) to<c strike, to Limes, and the first over was a maiden. Dunning took up the attack at the other end, MoGirr (15) getting a single to squareleg off the first ball. NAPIER, This Day. The cricket match M.C.C. versus Hawke’s Bay was resumed this morning in perfect weather. The wicket was splendid. With one wicket down for 15 runs, Hawke’s Bay resumed the final innings to the bowling of rvichols and Allom. This pair were m great form and had the batsmen demoralised. At the end of the first half hour Hawke’s Bay had six down for So. _ Evans and Bock made a stand for tne seventh wicket, and 50 went up aitei an hour’s play. At 55, Nichols and Allom, who had two for 15 and four for 26 respectively, went oil, \\ ooiley and Bowlev going on. Four maiden overs followed. The partnership was broken at 65, Evans being caught at silly point after a patient 18 made m SO ‘infinites. Three more maiden overs followed, Nichols coming on again vice Rowley at 70, but Legge replacing linn after one over. Beck brought ol) up with two fours.
