AN AUCKLAND COMMENT. (Special to the “Guardian.”) AUCKLAND, January 20. The Government’s action in offering 51 per cent, when loan money could he got at 5$ per cent, was commented on at to-day’s meeting of the Waitemata Power Board by the chairman, Mr J. W. Hayden. “We had £30,000 offered to us at 5J per cent, before Christmas,” said Mr Hayden, “hut we did not bant it. It must lie remembered that the Government loan is shortdated, while ours is for 25 years. I am hoping the Government’s action will not affect the hoard when we want- to raise more money.”
