A HUGE DROP.
AUSTRALIAN EXPORTS. SERIOUS DECLINE NOTED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, This Day. From 1924-25 to 1928-29 exports of produce and merchandise from Australia fell from £159,987,124 to £140,942,670. This serious decline is not only with overseas countries, hut with the Dominions, and has resulted in the Minister of Markets (Mr Moloney) asking Cabinet to establish a commercial service abroad.
Officials attribute ibe present adverse trade balance to the fact that Australia neglected to advertise extensively overseas.' Between 1926 and 1928* the export trade to New Zealand fell from to £3,868.281. while Canada's exports to New Zealand correspondingly increased.
