Bishop Rrodie was a passenger by the. south-bound express this morning.
Constable J. Robertson has been appointed clerk of the Magistrate's Court and bailiff .at Methyen.
Envoy F. Matthews conducted the services at' the Salvation Army Hall yesterday.
The Rev. G, D. Vcrcoe, Pastor of the Church of Christ, and Mrs Yercoc have returned to Ashburton, after three Weeks at Nelson. During their absence, the services were conducted bv Mr G. P. Purnell and Mr 0. White, both of Christchurch.
Messrs W. C. Smith and H. Milsom have been appointed timekeepers for the annual Dominion swimming championships at Grey?iouth. They have also been appointed goal-scorers for the water polo. Mr Smith will be one of the nolo timekeepers.
A " Gazette" notice states that Mr A. J. Ching, of Ashburton,, has been appointed Clerk of the Magistrate'.-: Court at Ashburton, Official Assignee. Clerk of the Warden's Court, Receiver of Gold Revenue, and Mining Registrar at Ashburton for the Otago Mining District, and Local Patent Officer at Ashburton.
