IN THE SOUTH.
MEETING OF EXPLORERS. MAWSON AND LARBEN. . (United Press Association—Copyright.) OSLO, January 16. Captain Larsen telegraphs stating that he boarded the Discovery and was given a most kindly reception. There was no misunderstanding with Sir Douglas Mawson, who stated that he was meeting with difficulty' in making the passage westward owing to lack of coal.
Captain Larsen offered to get coal for the Discovery from the Norwegian whaling i factories. Sir Douglas Mawson said that he did not believe that difficulty would arise in connection with the hoisting of the Norwegian flag over the newly-discov-ered land between Kemp Land , and Enderby Land. The message is construed in Oslo as meaning that Sir Douglas Mawson has given up his-original design of exploring the waters east of Kemp 'Land and Enderby Land and that both the Discovery and the Norvegia will try to discover a new land west of this region.
