FAREWELL VISIT.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL LEAVES
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, January IG. Their Excellencies Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson paid their farewell visit to Christohurch to-day, and were favoured with beautiful weather for the various ceremonies. His Excellency placed in position the foundation stone of a new boardinghouse at Christ's College, and at the new Baptist Church in Colombo Street, of -which the Mayor (the Rev. J. K. Archer) is pastor. *. A civic farewell was largely attended. His Excellency received an album containing an address and photographs of local scenes, and her Excellency a cabinet made of New Zealand woods. Subsequently the visitors were guests of the Chamber of Commerce, of which Lady Alice Is patroness, at a luncheon. Her Excellency was also entertained by the Women's ,Club and the Mothers' Ihiion, being the recipient of a water colour from the council of the latter. Sir Charles and Lady Fergusson left for Wellington to-night.
