BOROUGH RATES.
ONLY £sll OUTSTANDING. The sum of only £'sll 12s was outstanding in the Ashburton Borough rates at the closing of the receipt of rates without the extra tax. The total amount struck for the year was £11,558 3s (last year £10.330 0s sd), and the amount collected was £10.846 lb (last year £10,785 13s lid), leaving £sll 12s outstanding (last year £'544 6s 6d). The position is therefore in excess of £SO better than last year.
