COUNTY CENTRES.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
RAKAiAr The weather at Ralcaia since the commencement of the year has been very changeable. Sunday- morning was wet and misty, but the weather cleared during the* afternoon and continued fine, though threatening, till early on Tuesday, when the day broke wet and misty. ' Heavy showers fell at intervals' and continued all day and throughout the night. From Tuesday morning till 8 a.m. yesterday 1.14 in. was registered, and till 1 p.m. a further ,51in, was recorded. The streets are running streams* and the gardens are verv sodden.
PENDARVES. The present summer is proving to be the wettest experienced for 17 years. Much as rain was needed some time ago to mature the wheat crops, saturation point lias now been reached. Heavy* showers continued to fall throughout Tuesday night, accompanied by gustv winds, which are liable to tangle tlie heavy heads of wheat. Up to 9 a.m. .90in. had fallen, and the weather continued to be boisterous, with heavy rains. Many oat crops have been cut, and are lying in the paddocks awaiting fine w'enther for harvesting. A continuance of the present weather may mean a serious discolouration of the grain.
