BEAM WIRELESS.
QUESTION OF THE COST.
DISPUTE ARISES IN ENGLAND
(United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This-Day, 11.15 a.m.)_ LONDON, January 10. Tlie “Daily Express” states that the Government is considering tue dispute between the Post Office and the Communication Company owing to the former’s refusal to uso the company s beam stations for Empire wireless telephony - instead of the Government s huge Rugby station, where much ot the plant,is American. , It is . understood that tne chief reason for the Post Office policy is that the experiment with Rugby, has shown that it is too expensiye to use beams when there are smaller, cheaper aerials, and the directors achieve better results and also permit of a multiplication of aerials for alternate wave* lengths with, which the telephony experiments to Australia give greater hope of minimising fading than hitherto achieved by the beam.
