THE YOUNGER GRAY COMMITTED
(Per P ress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In the Magistrate’s Court, Charles Robert Gray, the younger of the two Gray brothers who have admitted the fire crimes, pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder Mr Edward Hammond on July W>He pleaded guilty to the burglaries at Hammond’s shop on July Iff and .Tulv 21.
Hammond, in evidence, said: “I have no doubt at all that the man in the dock is the man.” In a statement made by Gray to the police, be said.: “1 got some ammunition from the shop, arid was getting other 'goods, when Hammond came in. I shot him in the .back. 1 used the pistol f. stole from the .Museum.” /
Accused was committed for trial
