RIOTS DURING RATIONING.
SUPPLIES AS SHIPS’ BALLAST. United Press Association—Copyrights (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, July 10. Unprecedented drought in Hong Kong resulted in the most serious crisis in connection with the water supply in the colony’s history. _ Tho Government states that there is less than three weeks’ supply. Steamers from surrounding ports are filling their ballast tanks with water for carriage to Hong Kong, where lo huge tanks are being constructed along the waterfront to accommodate the incoming supply. A number of minor fights occurred in the streets of Hong Kong during the rationing of water. The reservoirs are heavily guarded.—Australian Press Association.
