OBITUARY.
MR THOMAS DOIG. One of the oldest and most respected residents of the County, Mr Thomas Doig, of Ashburton Forks, passed away at a private hospital last Friday, at the age of 64. Mr Doig, who was born at Cyst, was the second son of the late 'Mr (Peter Doig, there being five brothers. Mr Thomas Doig came to Ashburton when about- 15 years ot age, and later had a threshing mill at Chertsey. He then turned his attention to farming, and took up a holding at Dnomore. After being there for some time he went to Lyndhursf, and ultimately to Ashburton Forks three years ago. Mr Doig was a member of the Wakanui Road Board about 1912. Mrs Doig predeceased him last October. AH Doig leaves an adult family of six sons and three daughters.
