ENTERTAINMENTS

MAJESTIC THEATRE. "I Will Repay," from the novel by Baroness Orczy, will be shown finally to-night. It is a picture well worth seeing. Into the* story comes Sir Percy Blakeney, the" dashing Scarlet Pimpernel, one of a daring band of Britons who rescued doomed aristocrats from danger, risking their lives out of sheer love of adventure. The men of the "Terror" had sought Sir Percy, by hook or by crook. He is seen in their very arms, but set free through an astonishing stratagem. We see him leaping over roofs into passing vehicles. And always the hounds of the "Tenor" are baffled. "They seek him here, they seek him there, Those Frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in Heaven ? Is he in Hell—That dempcd elusive Pimpernel?" Ken Mavnard will be seen in "The Glorious trail," a thrilling Western story of the old days of covered waggons and treacherous Indians.

SIR HARRY LAUDER. It was 1914 when Sir Harry Lauder made his first personal appearance in the Dominion, and it is questionable if any other artist ever known could, during that period of anxiety and tragedy, when the public mind was engrossed with matters of utmost and vital seriousness, • have achieved the great success of Sir Harry. It was a 1 great tribute te; his art, his judgment of human nature, to infuse in his audiences brightness and happiness, and so make them wisely forget awhile the war clouds surrounding them. Sir Harry himself was "all merry and bright," yet there was sadness in hit heart, yet not for those to see, and he carried on. To ensure support commensurate with the world fame of the star, Mr E. J. Carroll has made careful selection of a company of. international artists to support Sir Harry, and as Mr Carroll has ever given us only the host, entertainment seekers have something to look forward to. The Ashburton season is limited to one night at the Majestic next Saturday, and tJie box office opens at The Bristol on Thursday morning. Applications for seats from country patrons will be dealt with strictly in order received.
