DRUNK IN A CAR.

FINED AND DELICENSED. (Per Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, June 7. Patrick Egan, a drover of Waipukurau, was charged with having been in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car on April 18. A second charge was preferred, that of resisting Constable Butler in the execution- of his duty. A plea of guilty to both charges was entered.

The Magistrate, Mr Mowlem, said beer and benzine would not mix. A serious menace on roads was a drunken motorist. On the first charge, accused was convicted and fined £2O. His driver's license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle until October 1, 1930. A prohibition order was issued by consent. On the charge of resisting the police, accused was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment.
