GIRL GUIDES.
RALLY AT ASHBURTON, AN ENROLMENT CEREMONY
The Ashburton Girl Guides! held a successful rally in St. Stephen's Sunday School last evening, when: the Ist fend 2nd Companies, the Rangers, and the newly-formed Methven and Rokeby companies, with members of their respective committees, and the Rev. and Mrs A. J. Petrie, wete present. Over 100 Guides < n nd Tenderfeet attended the rally.
The District Commissioner (Mrs G. L. Harold) inspected the companies and congratulated the members on their general turn-out and smart appearance, reflecting credit on the work of the officers. The members then accorded the District Commissioner a welcome by means of a signalling display, and a first-aid display was given by the Rangers. A patrol competition was held, each patrol making a tableau. An enrolling ceremony was held, many Guides, including a number from Rokeby, being enrolled by the District Commissioner.
The District Commissioner presented badges and service stars to several members, and gave a talk on the Guides' promises. She presented a silver cup to the 2nd Company for inter-patrol competition
