MAWSON'S EXPEDITION
1 SAILING OF DISCOVERY. DEPARTURE IN AUGUST. LONDON, May 27. The British Government will hand over the exploration ship Discovery to Sir Douglas Mawson, who is in charge of the projected Antarctic expedition, on July 1, and she will sail on August 1, coaling at St. Yincenfc and arriving at Capetown at the end of October. The Discovery will not reach Australia until the first season's work in the Antarctic has been completed. She will have a crew of 28 officers and men, and the scientific staff will probably number 12.
