BURGLARY AT TE AWAMUTU. (Per Press Asscriation.) TE AWAMUTU, Feb. 18. A Phillips safe, measuring al>out two feet, and containing Saturday's takings, was removed from the premises of J. Middlebrook, butcher, during the week-end. It is believed that the offence, occurred some time after 1 a.m. on Sunday. Entrance was effected by a back door and the safe was taken away on a hand truck to a back street, where it was loaded on to a motor truck. The premises are right opposite the To Awamutu Hotel, and the Post Office adjoins. The telephone attendants, who have a view of Middlebrook s office, saw nothing. The police scoured, the district yesterday without finding any trace of the safe.
