"TOTE" AT AUCKLAND.

A DECREASE IN RECEIPTS. (Special to the "Guardian.") AUCKLAND, Dec. 29. Wet weather has greatly affected the summer racing and trotting carnival, and there has been a large decline in the attendance, and, consequently, in the totalisator receipts. The total decrease to date for the three davs' sport is £90,516. On Boxing Day at Ellerslio the totalisator handled £95,783, a decrease of £35,729, compared with the same day last year. The decrease yesterday was £28,020, the machine handling £44,311, compared with £72,331 on the second day last year. The decrease for two davs is £63,749, this year's total being £140,094, ' and last year's £203,844. So far the Auckland Trotting Club has suffered a drop of £26,767 in the volume of speculation, this being the decrease on the opening day, Thursday, when £60,840 was handled, compared with £87,607 in 1927. Two more days of racing and two of trotting remain.
