CRITICALLY INJURED.
SHOOTING AFFRAY IN SYDNEY. (United Pr*>ss Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December 30. A sliooting affray occurred last night in New Street in' Surrey Hills, as a result of which Frederick Blackridge, aged 24, a labourer, was critically injured. Essie Blackridge, his wife, received wounds in the arm and shoulders. Her oondition is not serious.
John Annesley, a middle-aged man, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. The police understands that a dispute between the families preceded the shooting. Blackridge and hie wife, with Blackridge's brother, went to a New Street bouse and kicked on the door. The door eventually flew open and a man appeared with a shotgun. He immediately fired, nearly tbe whole of the charge entering Frederick Blackridge's chest, the wife receiving some pellets. Tho injured man was removed to hospital, but refused to give much information to the police, who later went to the New Street house, and were confronted with a shotgun, butluckily the man did not fire. Tho police then made tho arrest without resistance being offered. —Australian Press Association.
