Usual 4.57 p.m. Train for Ashburton will leave Christchurch 5.15 p.m., arriving Ashburton 7.47 p.m. METHVEN BRANCH: Usual 6.30 p.m. Train for Methven will leave Rakaia 7.20 p.m. ASHBURTON-TIMARU: The usual 4.31 p.m. Train from Ashburton for Timavu will leave Winchester 5’.55 p.m., arriving Timaru 6.43 p.m. Usual 4.48 p.m. Train for Ashburton will leave Timaru 5.11 p.m., Temuka 5.44 p.m., arriving Ashburton 7.9 p.m. Usual 11.15 a.m. Train from Ashburton for Timaru and usual 11.36 a.m. Train from Timaru for Ashburton will NOT run. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2. TROTTING RACES AT CHRISTCHURCH. EXCURSION TO TEMUKA AND TIMARU. SPORTS AT TIMARU. CHRISTCHUR CH-DUNEDIN: Extra Express Trains for Dunedin will leave Christchurch 9.10 a.m. and 12.45 p.m. • _ Extra Express Trains for Christchurch will leave Dunedin 9.5 a.m. and 12.5 p.m. The 12.5 p.m. Train will NOT connect with the ferry steamer. CHRISTCHURCH - ASHBURTON: Usual 4.57 p.m. Train for Ashburton will leave Christchurch 5.45 p.m., arriving Ashburton 7.54 p.m. METHVEN BRANCH: Usual 6.30 p.m. Train for Methven will leave Rakaia 7.20 p.m. (after arrival of trains from Christchurch, Ashburton, Dunedin, and Invercargill). Special Train for Methven will leave Rakaia 10.9 a.m. (after arrival of 9.10 a.m. Relief Express Train from Christchurch). Special Train will leave Methven for Rakaia at 2.25 p.m. (connecting with Mail Train to Christchurch). TIMARU-ASHBURTON: Usual 4.48 p.m. Train for Ashburton will leave Timaru 5.30 p.m., arriving Ashburton 7.28 p.m. Usual 4.31 p.m. Train for Timaru will leave Ashburton 4.55 p.m., arriving Timaru 7.13 p.m. SPECIAL EXCURSION. CHRISTCHURCH TO TEMUKA AND TlMAßU.—Special Excursion Train for Temuka and Timaru will leave Rakaia 8.51 a.m. and Ashburton 9.28 a.m.' Takes passengers from Rakaia and Ashburton for Temuka and Timaru only. Return Train leaves Timaru 5.0 and Temuka 5.20 p.m. Excursion fares, available by the Special Train, and on day of issue only: From Ashburton to Timaru 8s and 5s 3d, to Temuka 6s and 4s 3d, and correspondingly reduced from Rakaia. SATURDAY, JANUARY 5. CHRTSTCHURCH-DUNEDIN: Relief Mail Train leaves Christchurch 9.10 a.m. for Dunedin. Relief Mail Train leaves Dunedin 9.5 a.m. for Christchurch. SPORTS AtTiETHVEN. Special Train for Methven will leave Rakaia 9.40 a.m., stopping at stations on Methven Branch, if required, to pick up passengers for Methven. Return Train will leave Methven 6.25 p.m., stopping at the same stations as the outward Train, to set down passengers from Methven. It will not connect with Evening Train Christchurch to Ashburton. Cheap Day Fares from Rakaia and Methven Branch Stations. If the Sports be Postponed, the Special Trains will NOT run. GOODS TRAFFIC. Goods Traffic will be suspended and Goods Sheds and Delivery Yards closed on Ist January. .
