“ TINNED MUSIC"
HOBART THEATRE STRIKE.
ATTENDANTS CEASE WORK. THE ORCHESTRA SUSPENDED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) HOBART, This Day. The Musicians' Union has declared "black" the Theatre Royal, where a play headed by Miss Muriel Starr is running, because the management installed an automatic gramophone in place of the orchestra. The theatre employees ceased work, and pickets endeavoured to dissuade the public from patronising the show, which, however, continues with volunteer attendants and scene-shifters. The strikers are chagrined by the public's "full-house" support of the "tinned music."—Australian Press Association.
