The Prince of Wales' postbag at York House to-day was one of the biggest on record As a result of his broadcast appeal on behalf of the miners, letters came from all classes. Many describe how, immediately the Prince had spoken, the hat was handed round, and a modest ten shillings and upwards sent to the Mansion House, where over 1000 contributions were received by the first post. The Prince spent a good deal of Christmas Day composing the appeal, which was finished only just before he went to the microphone. The fund is now about £350 000, apart from the Government s contributions.—Australian Press Association.
