HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "Silk Legs," which will be screened finally to-night, shows Madge Bellamy in the role of a vivacious saleswoman, whose modern ideas) about doing business go far in making it one of the most hilarious comedy-dramas pi tbe season. James Hall plays opposite the star It is a splendid picture with a splendid cast and is very entertaining. Part 9 of the Collegians will also be screened to-night. A silk leg prologue, a ballet staged by the pupils of Miss Gladys Bushell last evening, presented a very pleasant interlude. The stage was beautifully decorated for the occasion. A "mysterious ballet," consisting or Misses Billie Addis, Bonnie Addis, M. Dyer, M. Gass, B. Beech, J. Hayston, N Miller and E. Thompson, was warmly applauded, as> also were the solo dances by Miss G, Bushell and Billie Addis. .''',,. • T i „ The "Opening Night," starring John Bowers, Grace Goodall and E. Alyn Marran, portrays the thrilling realism of the sea and is one of the most stirring pictures ever screened. It will be shown at His Majesty's Theatre tomorrow and Saturday nights. At the matinee on Saturday and again on Saturday night "The Open Range, by Zane Grey, will be shown.

HALLOWE'EN. Under the auspices of the Ashburton County Society, a halo we en night was held In the Orange Hall last night when there was a largeattendance. As the members entered the hall each was presented with a sprig of heather bv Chief H. Sinclair, who presided. The programme was arranged by Messrs. W. G. MacDonald and A. B. Simnson A dance followed, music bS supplied by Mrs Mitchell's orchestra. Extras were played by Mrs E. G. Craighead'.

DANCE RECITAL AND CONCERT. One of the most enjoyable concerts held in Ashburton for some time was Sven in St. Stephen's Hall last evenfmr when a dance recital and concert organised by Miss Mulvany Gray and pupil's, and assisted oy local artists.was presented, the proceeds being in aid ot S Ashburton frunket Society.
