HOCKEY.
MEN’S PRACTICE GAME. About 20 members of the newly-for-med 'Ashburton Men’s Hockey Club attended the first practice, held °n Saturday afternoon. Considering it was a practice game, the standard plav was very good, and promises a successful season for men s hockey m Ashburton. A good proportion of those who turned out were new to the frame, but they handled their sticks well in their first trial.
A friendly match between Wakanuij. and Old Girls’ was played on the Do- . main on Saturday, and resulted m a win for Old Girls by 4 goals to nil. The scorers were: Misses L. Wills, W. i Burton, M. Willers and M. McDonald. Air A. G. McHardy was referee,
