(Paparua), . ~ Tjpdn resuming in open meeting, , after discufisfing the committee s report, the chairman (Mr J. E. Strachan) reported that the conference had considered the advance copy of the report and, while agreeing with its main principles, realised that, while the report represented what could be done if the district had full control of the funds available from the province allowance must be made for the fact that Isorth Canterbury was part and parcel of the Dominion, and therefore there was another point of view. It was decided to strengthen the report by referring it back to the committee, with power to act. Confidence was expressed in the •work of the committee. Messrs Godfrey Hall (Selwyn County), H. Neale (Springs), and B- UDixon (Eyre) were added to the committee, which will meet again next The original personnel of the committee was as follows:—Messrs J. &■ Strachan (president of the Canterbury Progress League), A.
