LIMERICK'S WIN. SYDNEY PRESS COMMENT. (Received This Day, 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The "Sydney Morning Herald." referring to Limerick's win, says: "Thehorse did not get away well, but Mc- r Carten displayed great resource, which enabled him to settle down- nicely, and throughout the race he summed up the position nicely, which enabled him to win comfortably. The "Herald" concludes:. "Limerick's achievement* has still further enhanced his claims as to the best all-round galloper seen formally years." { Tne "Daily Telegraph" says that Limerick gained a magnificent victory,, and has already proved that as a" stayer he has no peer in Australia •or New Zealand, and yesterday's win earned, for him the undisputed right to be acclaimed the champion miler of Australia and New Zealand. GOLD THREAD DESTROYED. (Received This Day, 11:30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The hurdler Gold Thread fell at Randwick and was so badly injured that he had to be destroyed.—Australian.Press Association.
