ASHBURTON CLUB’S MEETING. ; LEADBETTER EQUALS RECORD. The annual sports meeting of the Asnburtoii Amateur Cycling and Athletic Club were completed on Saturday afternoon in the Domain. The attendance of the public was poor. M: Leadbetter, who tied with V. Todd for first place in the 75 Yards Handicap, equalled the New Zealand record. He was the scratch man, Todd receiving 7yds. During the afternoon he ran 100 yards with the cyclist E. P. Parsons, and won by a yard, but in the course of the race strained the muscle in his left leg. Following are the concluding results:
Long Jump (5) —J. H. Claridge (scr) I,' E. M. Clark (12in.) 2. Distance 19ft. lOin. 75 Yards Handicap, Ladies’ (5). — Miss W. E. Ayres Millichamp (3yds) 2, Miss E. Gudseil (4yds) 3; Miss Ay re si quickly gamed the lead', and kept the position to win by a foot. Time—9sec. 880 Yards Handicap (9). —H. Gasson (55yds) 1, K. Nicoll (,09yds) 2, G. Graham (80yds) 3. Burgess led till the saraight was entered, but dropped out. Nicoll and Gasson fought out the finish, the latter winning by inches. Time—2min.
100 Yards Handicap.—lst heat (8): R. McKinnon (9£yds) 1, C. Atyeo (7y,ds) 2, J. A. Gasson (syds) 3. Time I—9 4-5 sec. Second heat (8): S. Benger (83yds) 1, M. Leadbetter (scr) 2, J. H. Russeli (s|yds). 3. Time—lo 1-5 sec. Final: Benger 1, Atyeo .2, McKinnon 3. Indies separated the first three men; Leadbetter being two ieet away. Time—lOsec. Half-Mile Cycle Handicap.—First Heat (8): W. Oakley (60yds) 1, S. Campbell (scr) 2, E. P. Parsons (30 yds) 3. Time—lmin. 5 1-5 see. Second heat (5): D. Anderson (85yds) 1, G. Bright (90yds) 2, J. Woods (85yds 3. Time—lmin. 4sec. Final: Oakley 1, Woods 2, Anderson 3. Oakley came up to win Tiy a length. Woods challenged hut was beaten in a good finish. .Time—lmin. 2 4-5 sec. 100 Yards Handicap, Ladies (5). — Miss W. E. Ayers (L>yds) 1, Miss B Millichamp (4yds/) 2, Miss F. Gudsell (syds) 3. Won by six inches. Time—--11 4-5 sec. ‘ _ . One Mile Handicap (4). —D. W. Bain (30yds) 1, H. Gasson (IlOyds) 2. Bain caught the leaders' and took the lead in the third round, and maintained it to win by six yards from Gasson. They were the only ones to finish. Time —4 min. 38sec. -

Novelty Race, 100 Yards.—M. Leadbetter. (sprinter) v. E. P. Parsons (cyclist).—Leadbetter gained an excellent start and won by a yard. The course included a bend in the track. Time—lo 1-5 sec. One Mile Cycle Handicap.—lst heat (5): D. Anderson (150yds) 1, J. Samuels (150yds) 2, J. Woods (150yds) 3. Time—2min. 15 3-5 sec; second heat (3): W. Oakley (100yds) 1, S. Campbell (scr) 2, M. Pearl (30yds) 3. Time—2min. 16 2-5 sec. Final': Oakley 1, Campbell 2, Samuels 3. Won easily. Time—2min. 13 2-5 sec. 440 Yards Handicap (7).—0. J. Thompson (15yds) 1, J. Claridge (24 yds) 12, L. Willis (16yds) 3. Time—ss' sec. Claridge took, the lead from Thompson early in the race, but the former came up with a great sprint to win by a yard, the third man three yards away. OFFER TO ATHLETES. At the annual sports meeting of the Ashburton Amateur Clycling and Athletic Club, held on Saturday, Air J. H Parker, the well-known athlete and father of J. Parker, the 1924 All Black footballer, announced his willingness to visit Ashburton to give training advice in jumping to any athletes who .were willing to a-vail themselves 01 the opportunity offered.
