PUBLIC NOTICES. ASHBURTON ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD. NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO RAISE SPECIAL LOAN. THE Ashburton ' Electric-Power Board, in exercise of the Power conferred on it by “The. Electric Power Boards Act, 1925/’ and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926,” HEREBY GIVES PUBLIC NOTICE , that it proposes to raise by way of SPECIAL LOAN a sum of Ninety thousand pounds (£90,000), and that a POLL of Ratepayers within the Ashburton Electric Power Board District will be taken on the 19th day of April, 1928, oft the proposal to raise the said Special Loan:— * (a) The particular purpose or purposes for which the Special Loan is required are as follows: 1. The construction and completion of “electric works” as defined by ‘‘The Electric Power Boards Act, 1925,” for the supply, distributibn amd utilisation of electric 1 energy in the said District. 2. The installation of electrical and other equipment for consumers as provided, for under Section 118 of the said Act. .

3. The purchase of electrical or other equipment to sell or lease to consumers as provided for under Section 120 of the said Act. (b) tiie sums proposed to be borrowed, for such purposes respectively are as follows: — her the purpose set forth in SubCfause l aoo/e ... £70,000 For the purpose set forth in SubClause 2, above, ... £IO,OOO For the purpose set forth in Sub,Clause 3, above ... £IO,OOO (c) The proposed security is a Special Rate of nine-fiftieths (0.18) of a Penny in the £ sterling on the rateable value on the basis f the capital Value* of all rateable property in the Asliburton Electric Power Board as defined by the Proclamation proclaiming the said area dated the 17th day of November, 1921, such rate to be an 'annually recurring rate during ■ the currency of the loan. (d) It is proposed, to raise the Loan at a rate of interest not exceeding six per cent, per annum for a term. or thirty-six years and to provide a sinking fund of not less than one per cent, for the repayment of the loan. (e) It is proposed to pay out of the - loan the cost of raising the same, but not the interest and sinking fund for the first year. \ Dated this 26th day of March, 1928.
