On the Ashburton howling green on. Saturday afternoon the semi-final of the handicap doubles was played, Boyce and Christmas (handicap 2) meeting Dunn and Willis (5). The green was in splendid order. Some very good play was put up by both sides, the game being won by Dunn and Willis, 24-14. In the final the winners have to meet Buxt'bn and Steel. This game is tp be played at an early date. LAWN TENNIS. BARING SQUARE v. SEAFIELD. Tennis matches were played between the. Baring Square Methodist Club and Seafield, at Seafield, on Saturday, resulting in a win for Seafield by 14 sets (113 games) to 9 sets (100 •games). RUAPUNA v. LOWCLIFFE. A team from Ruapuna played a match against Lowcliffe on the latter’s courts on Saturday. Recently the second court has been put down and helped very considerably in getting off all the events. The weather was ideal. Lowcliffe won by 118 games to 56.
