A London cablegram announces the death of Mr Samuel . Clowes, Labour- ~ MJP. for the Hanley Division of Stoke-Upon-Trent, aged 64. Special prayers of intercession for the"* Rev. J. F. Wiseman (vicar of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church) were made by the Rev. F. B. Allen at each of the services yesterday. Mr Wiseman passed a slightly better night, and his condi- • tion this morning showed a little improvement. Mr A. R. Jordan (District iPublio. Trustee, Christchurch) has been appointed district supervisor of the North ' Canterbury District Rural Intermediate Credit Board and chairman of the Board. The duties of the new position will be carried out by Mr Jordan in conjunction with his duties as District- - Public Trustee for Christchurch.
