CRICKET.
SCHOOLS AT PLAY. ASHBURTON v. METHVEN. The Methven District High School played return cricket and tennis matches against the Ashburton Technical School yesterday. The latter was successful in the tennis match, winning by 5 sets (41 games) to 4 sets (44 games). The cricket match was also won by the Ashburton team, who batted first, compiling 61 runs. The principal scorers were F. Harper 21, J- Dandie ■ (retired) 10, T. Shannon 11. Methven replied with 26. Bowling for Methven Hercus and Buckett each took two wickets, while for Ashburton McGee and Behrns each took three and Lloyd two wickets. At the conclusion of the game refreshments were served by the girls of the Technical School.
