STREET ACCIDENTS.
LONDON’S UNENVIABLE RECORD
Statistics, issued recently regarding the occurrence of accidents in tl streets of London during the three months July, August, and September, show ail increase m the rate or iatan ties compared with the preyioustwo quarters of the years, says, tlje Daily Telegraph.” During the quarter under review reports were made to Metropolitan Police concerning 28,8u0 accidents, involving injury to persons or property, in which . 269 persons were killed or fatally injured, a total equivalent to approximately three deaths a. day. For the previous two quarters combined the number of fatalities was 475. During the first nine months of the year London street accidents have been responsible for <4* of the fatalities during the third quarter shows that ot the -bJ victims there were 175 pedestrians, 94 drivers or occupants of cars pedal cyclists, and 32 motor cyclists. In the case of pedestrians the mostfrequent causes of accidents were.
