YOUNG GIRL KILLED. KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR-BUS. (Pei* Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 17. Greta M'ackie, aged ten veare, a daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Mackie> ot Te Aroha, was killed through being knocked down by a motor-bus at DevonDort this evening The child, who was accompanied by her mother, stepped from a stationary bus, and was knocked down by another passing bus, and died a quarter of an hour later.

MAN'S FINGERS SEVERED. WELLINGTON, January 17. Mr P T. E> Davis, residing at IoU Hutt Road, Petone, to-day _ practically severed the second and third tmerers from his left hand when using a circular saw. Hei was admitted to hospital.

YOUNG WOMAN FOUND DEAD. WELLINGTON, January 17. Miss Flora McMurtrie, a 26-year-old tailoress, employed in Wellington and living at No. 100 a Tasman Street, under the name of Flora McLean, was discovered dead on a couch in her room to-day Death was caused through gas poisoning. Her father resides in Apiti, near Feilding. THE TRAIN FATALITY.

AUCKLAND, January 17. The man killed by a train at Mount Eden to-day has been identified as Mr Samuel Henry Elmore, aged s£. He was a married man with a grown up family. WOMAN FOUND DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. .Missing from her home since midnieht Mrs W. Elliot was found drowned near the wharf at Le Bons Bay at 11 o'clock yesterday. Mrs Elliot had been in bad health for some time. A search party set out at 6 a.m yesterday and the body was found by the Lyttelton boat Orewa at 11 o'clock. Mrs Elliot, who was 38 years of age, leaves a husband and four children, the youngest being four months old.
