TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From "Guardian," January 18, 1903)Labour Market.—The following report on the local labour market has been published by the Department of Labour in Ashburton:— Building trades —Fairly good. All builders are fully employed; Engineering trades: good; Boot trade: Factories are working lull time: Clothing trades: good; ltctail trade (general)- Very fair Good business has been done through the month. Miscellaneous: Woollen mill and freezing works have been fairly busy. Unskilled labour: No applications ior employment during the month and all local hands appear to be fully employed. Shearing is now in full awing, but it has been greatly impeded owing to wet weather. -. , r» Oddfellows' Church Parade. —On Sunday afternoon about 60 members of the 1.0.0. F., M.U., Loyal Ashburton Lodge, with members of the Loyal Ivy Lodge (Ladies) assembled for the purpose of attending Divine service m the Oddfellows' Hall. Bro. the Rev. Jas. Coker, of Wanganui, conducted the service.
