THE METHVEN CLUB

A fine afternoon’s sport was enjoyed at the weekly shoot of the Metiiven Gun Club, held on the Methven Racecourse on Saturday. There was a rather smaller attendance than usual, but the standard of shooting was much above that of a week ago. This is probably accounted for by the better conditions prevailing, although at the beginning of the shoot the bright sunshine proved somewhat troublesome. Later the light improved, while a slight breeze made no apparent difference to the competitors. The first shoot was a nine-bird (clay) handicap for a trophy presented by Messrs T. Bortliwick and Sons, witli an added sweepstake. The best scores were:
