NEW TRAFFIC BRIDGE. QUESTION OF BOROUGH'S SHARE. The Ashburton Borough Council met last evening, when there were present:—The Mayor (Mr R. Galbraith), Messrs W. H. Woods, F. Z. D. Ferrinran, W. H. Rundle, John Watson, J. Thompson, F. J. E. Smallbone, J. McElhinney, R. A. Collins, R, Kerr, W. H Robinson, and F. \Y. Seldom. "With'this object in view, application has been made to the Main Highways Board for a subsidy oi £3 for £1 on an estimated amount of £3OOO, but it is not anticipated that provision will be made on this year'si estimates. ■

Cemetery Board. Sitting as a Cemetery Board, the council received the financial statement which showed that there was a bank balance of £66 15s 3d. Receipts in oast two weeks totalled £2l 2s 6d.
