DAIRY CONTROL.

THE LONDON AGENCY. MR PATERSON RESIGNS. (Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, April 5. Mr Stronach Paterson has written to Sir James Parr resigning his position as Government representative on the London agency of the New Zealand Dairy Control Board. The letter points out that Mr Paterson discussed the matter fully with Mr Coates last November and quotes Mr Paterson's letter to Mr Coates on November 8 suggesting that the only course open to the writer was to continue to work, as opportunity offered, for such modification of the machinery of control as might mitigate the had results he feared, to work for breaking down the prevailing hostility to New Zealand dairy produce, and for the re-establishment of goodwill and co-operation in all branches of the dairy produce trade in this country. To this Mr Coates agreed. Mr Paterson quotes a letter sent to Mr Coates on December 28 stating that he would consent to carry on his duties as long as he had Mr Ooates's confidence, of which Mr Coatee assured him. Mr Coates also expressed the wish that he would carry on with the understanding that he (Mr Paterson) should continue the policy outlined on November 8, which policy had since been scrupulously followed. In December Mr Paterson informed Mr Coates that it was impossible to carry on if Mr J. B. Wright were appointed to the London agency and he fully explained his reasons for his attitude. As Mr Wright has now been appointed from the date of the departure of Messrs H. lorns arid Claud Motion toward the end of this month, Mr Paterson asks Sir James Pan- to convey to the Prime Minister his desire to resign his position at once.
