CAR TURNS A SOMERSAULT. TWO OCCUPANTS INJURED. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN. This Day. In a sensational accident at Kaka Point, in the Catlins district, at midnight on Saturday, Messrs J.' Taylor, Robert Robertson, and William Morrow, of Kaitangata, were thrown from a car, which turned a somersault over a bank. Mr Robertson suffered concussion and broken ribs, and Mr Morrow a broken collarbone and ribs. Mr Taylor, who was driving, escaped -with cuts on the hand and face. The injured men were taken to Balclutha Hospital. MOTOR CYCLE CAPSIZES. ' AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr Stanley Casher, a resident of Grey Lynn, sustained a fractured skull through the capsize of a motor cycle with a sidecar, in whch he was a passenger. Mr Albert Roy Allen, driver of the car, sustained bruises to the face, arms and knee. Both were removed to the hospital.

FIREMAN INJURED. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, January 9. Mr John Cartwright, a member of the City Fire Brigade, single, aged 22, was admitted to the hospital to-day suffering from injuries to the head and shoulders received through a portion of the brick-work of a ciiimney collapsing and striking him while he was attending a fire in Mornimgton. The building, which was a five-roomed wooden one, was owned and occupied bv Mr Valentine and was almost completely destroyed. CHILD’S NARROW ESCAPE. • TE AWAMUTU, January 8. Jean CordUm, aged 4, had a miraculous escape this afternoon. She ran to cross the road from behind a standing car, but ran in front of a motor-lorry, which knocked her down. Fortunately the child fell clear of tlie wheels, and though the vehicle passed over her she suffered only painful abrasions. MAN MISSING FROM CAPSIZED YACHT. AUCKLAND, January 9. Two cousins, Messrs Thornton Tidd, and Harold Tidd, left Devonport in a 14ft. sailing boat about 6 o’clock on Saturday evening. About 8 o’clock the boat was capsized off Motuihi Island. Mr Thornton Tidd reached tlie island safely, but nothing more has been seen of Harold Tidd. Search for the missing man was made to-dav by friends in a launch, but as no trace'of the boat was found, the party returned to Auckland' this afternoon,. It is probable that the boat lias been carried out to sea or washed up somewhere along the coast. MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. WELLINGTON, This Day. Stanley James Johnson, a single man, aged 26, was found lying in the yard of his residence yesterday morning withjiis head severely injured. His condition! is serious.
