GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. As is usual at this time of the' year, there is very little activity in the grain and produce market. ' The heavy rams of the last week were not welcomed by farmers and the harvesting of the new cops has been, further delayed. The demand for wheat is for small orders only mainly for fowl feed, and there is no business passing with North Island merchants, who are being kept going with .shipments of Canadian and Australian wheat. ' The oat market is unchanged, and merchants are buying only on a hand-to-mouth basis. Owing to the wet weather it will probably be a fortnight before any new samples are offering locally. . The chaff market is quiet and prices show an easing tendency.
