THE WEATHER.

HEAVY RAIN AGAIN. Following a day of unsettled weather in Ashburton yesterday, a light drizzle set in about 11 o'clock last night, and developed into a heavy downpour shortly' after midnight, steady ram continuing, until about 9 o clock this morning. Twenty-three points were registered at the Domain observatory for the 24 hours ended at 9 am. today The'sky continued dull throughout the morning, but the sun shone through at intervals in the afternoon. Conditions at the time of going to press were unsettled. The thermometer yesterday registered maximum and minimum temperatures of 66 and 55 degrees, compared with '6O and 54 on Monday. The barometer this morning had risen 18 points, standing at 29.83.
