TRAGEDIES IN AUSTRALIA.
BOY’S HEAD BATTERED. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December 29. The semi-naked body of a half-caste boy named Robert Bums, eight years of age, was found floating in the river Brewarrina with the head badly battered. The boy was last seen ®ni company with an aboriginal, who has since taken to the bush. A largo posse of mounted, police and civilians is searching for him.
ALMEIDA MURDER CHARGE. ACCUSED FROM DUNEDIN. SYDNEY, December 29. Douglas Robertson, arrested on suspicion on ai. charge of murdering Mr William C. Almeida, manager of the Hampton (Victoria) branch of the Commonwealth Bank, on November 28, 1924, was remanded to appear at the Melbourne sittings on January 5. Accused is stated to be a native or Dunedin.
