MISSIONS IN MANY LANDS
THE PRESBYTERiAL ASSOCIATION ASHBURTON BODY'S MEETING. , The annual meeting of the Ashburton Presbyterial Association was held in Miss McKee's schoolroom, Havelock Street. Representatives were present from th Rakaia, Tinwald, Methven, Wakanui, Flemington, Chertsey, Mayfield, and Ashburton branches. Th© annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Goods and money to the value of £409 18s 4d had been, sent to the Home and Foreign Missions or the church. Officers for the year were elected as follow :—President, Mrs Shemeld : vicepresidents, Mesdames Kirk, Lloyd-, and R. McCully; secretary, Mrs W. Marshall; treasurer, Mrs W. J. Moore; harvest fields secretary, Miss Corbett; box secretary, Miss Murray; Maori Mission Birthday 'League Secretary, Miss Doak; Scattered Members' League Secretary, Mrs McLean; Oriental Work Secretary, Mrs E. Buehan; Arrowroot Secretary, Miss Cameron. After the business the Rev. A. S. Morrison took the chair, and an interesting address was given by Miss Henderson on the work in Jagadhri, where the speaker's sister ha*s been working for many years. Miss Henderson has recently returned from a visit to her sister in India, and was able to give a graphic description of the manuners and customs of the various castes among whom the missionaries are working ; also the many needs of the missionaries. She stressed especially the need for more prayer. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Henderson.
Afternoon tea was provided by the Ashburton Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union.
