The Vestry offered the use of the classroom for the nurse, and of the hall for the committee. j Several small accounts were passed for payment. ' The committee is indebted to those who so generously assisted at the Paddy's Market. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs F. 8.. Lloyd, H*. L. Thomson, and W. J. For some time past there has been an agitation to "have a portion, of the railway property at the main entrance gates to the station yard cut back, to round off a dangerous corner on the Chertsey and Main Ashburton roads. In reply to the Mount Hutt Road Board's request, the District Engineer has advised that the land will behanded over to the board at a nominal rental, and the cost of removal of fences and gates must be defrayed by the board. It is the intention of the board to carry out the work. A recent request that the Ashburton Power Board have its poles on the side of the Main A«hbnrton Road I set back to the newly-formed footpath is also to receive attention. Most of j the poles encroach some t>vo feet on ' the footpath, and arc a menace to>- ■ pedestrians.
