ACTIVITIES IN THE COUNTY. CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES
A largely-attended meeting of members of the committee of the Ashburton Plunket Society and delegates from sub-branches took place yesterday in the Borough Council Chambers. Ibose present were: Mesdames J. Laing (in the chair), \V. Lane, A. Bushell, E. B. Newton, H. Cullen, W. Birnie, V. P. Boot, A. Amos, F. W. Watt, H. Hunter, J. Lane, W. Moore J. T. Thomas, John Watson, A. H. Harnett, F Pawson, and J. Connor, Misses K. Cameron and E. Gates, and Sister Mildred, with, the following County representatives :—Mount Somers, Mesdames Jones and Bland; Mayfield Mrs . and Miss Corbett; Hinds, Mesdames Cottam, Hay, G. Chisnall, and Maidens; Methven, Mesdames Tooley, Elliott, and C. T. Jessep. Apologies for absence were received from Mes-
dames Fisher, Hunt, Fleming, A. A. Fooks, Matthews, Reid (president Methven branch) and Chambers (secretary), and Mrs McCully (secretary Hinds branch). It was decided to hold the annual meeting on June 5 in St. Stephen's Schoolroom. The president expressed the hope that as many of the members of the sub-branches as possible would attend. It is hoped to have a speaker from Christchurch. Satisfactory progress in most of the country centres was reported, both
Methven and Hinds having sent a contribution of £lO to the Mothers' Cottage Fund, Karitane. Mayfield also is hoping to make a contribution. Mrs Laing (president of the Ashburton branch) spoke on tho " Rules for Sub-branches," and read extracts from the report of the last conference on that subject. The delegates were asked to discuss this with their committees and to forward further suggestions to tha Ashburton secretary, who in turn will forward them to Dunedin.
It was reported that the visits to \ the Ashburton office for April totalled l 522. visits to homos 96, new cases 41. Visits to Methven rooms 45, new cases 2, visit to homes 1. Visits to Coldstream homes 6, vew case 1. Visits to Hinds room 15, visits to home 1, new case 1. Visits to Mayfield rooms 21, visit to home 1, new cases 2. Visits to Mount Somers rooms 6, visits to homes 3, new case 1. Visits to rooms at Rakaia 24. Forty-one pounds of emulsion had been ;;old during the month. Donations and subscriptions amounted to £6 18s 3d.
