Valedictory Social—An enjoyable social was held in the Orange Hall by the friends and well-wishers of Miss Tyson, who is leaving the district to lake up her residence in "Wellington. Dancing, to the music of Miss Simmonds' band, was enjoyed by about ou couples. The Hon. Major Steward, on behalf of those assembled, presented Miss Tyson with a silver egg-stand. Mr T. Hammond returned thanks on \ behalf of Miss Tyson. Mr Schwartz gave a song, and Mr W. Hodgson a , liornpipe. , , , Auction of Land.-At the Arcade this morning, Mr A. Boyle, representing Messrs Pyno and C 0.,. and Mr D. Thomas submitted to auction the wellknown "Barford" estate of 3*60 acres. There was a large attendance, but no bidders, and the' land was passed m to bo dealt with privately..
