AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB. AUCKLAND. May 2. The Auckland Trotting Club's autumn meeting opened to-day. The weather was overcast. There was a. good attendance. The course was slightly holding, and light showers fell near the end of the day. Totalisatotr investments amounted to £50,207, compared with £35,640 10s on the corresponding day last year. "tIMARU, May 2. The autumn meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club was concluded at Washdyke on Saturday. The totalisator investments were £16,819 10s, compared with £20,006 10s on the corresponding day last year, making a total for the meeting of £33,027 10s against £35,767 10s last year. Concluding results:— Wai-iti Steeeplechase, of 200 sovs; about two miles.—Aurore 1, Kipling 2, Golden Prince 3. Won easily by eight lengths. Time, 4.13 2-5. Ternnka Hack Handicap, of 140 sovs; six furlongs.—Gold Brick 1, Olympia 2, Fairy Herald 3. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.16 1-5. Seadown Welter, of 200 sovs; seven furlongs.—Sun Up 1, Kilbarry 2, Quality 3/ Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.30.

BEAUFORD TO RETIRE. SYDNEY, May 2. After seeing him run second to last in the Denham Stakes at Tattersall's meeting yesterday, the owner of Beauford stated that the horse had run his last race at Sydney. He intended to retire him from the turf.
