The people of Capetown are not noted for demonstrative enthusiasm, but it is generally admitted that the welcome of the Prince of Wales on his arrival to-day far surpasses anything previously experienced. The illuminations are on a scale hitherto unknown. The principal streets are a dense mass, Europeans, blacks, and Indians mingling in the common enthusiasm. It was remarked during the morning that the Prince's famous smile was not so much in evidence as usual, but his demeanour and affability generally made the happiest impression.
