TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From "Guardian," May 1, 1900). A. and P. Association. —A meeting of the General Committee of the Ashburton A. and P. Association was attended by Messrs G. W. Leadley (president), J. C. N. Grigg, J. Studholme, iunr., J. Small, J. Bonifant, T. Mawson M Friedlander, J. S. Bland, F. McCafferty, T. Bullock, C. Reid, E. Cookson, H. Rosendale, and R. Friedlander. Mr J. Moore, of Lauriston, was elected a member of the Association. The matter of canvassing for an increase in the number of life members and the issue of debentures to carry out permanent improvements on the Showgrounds, were discussed. Football.—The Pirates Football Club will hold a practice match on the Domain to-morrow afternoon, when teams will be chosen from the following players:—Wilson (3), McTigue (2), Fitzgerald (3) Pritchard, Parsons, Fawoett, Leitc'h, McKay, Jack Samuels, Childs, Hefford, Bedford, Hepburn, Bray, Culverhouso, Lavery, Tomkms, Baker, and Bardis. Tinwald School Committee monthly meeting of the Tinwald School Committee was attended by Messrs Clothier (chairman), F. Bomungton, C. Dohertv, J. Hampton, amd .). Uudsell. The'master reported the number of children on the roll to be 141. It was decided to write to the board asking that the salary of the assistant mistress be increased to £6O per annum. . . „ Acclimatisation Society.—l be following omcers were elected at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Societv:—President, Mr G. A. M. Buckley: vice-presidents, Hon. Major Steward and Mr J.' McLachlan, MHR.'s. Messrs J. Studholme, junr., and E.. G. Wright; treasurer, Mr P. Cox; secretary, Mr A. H. Shury; auditor. Mr" A.
