. ■♦ The Duke of Connaught, Queen Victoria's only surviving son, is 75 years old to-day. Mr Robert Kennedy has been reappointed one of the Canterbury Education Board's representatives on the Ashburton High School Board of Governors. Sir Richard Butler, a former Premier of South Australia, died in London on Wednesday. Sir Richard was born in 1850, and went to South Australia at the age of four. He entered Parliament in 1890. A London cablegram states that there was a brilliant wedding at StMargaret's, Westminster, when Mr Roger Wethered, the noted golfer, married the elder daughter of Lord Charles Cavendish Bentinck. Mr T. Wilson, who for many years has been a member of the Council of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society, has resigned en account of ill health. The Society at its last meeting placed, on record its appreciation of the valuable services he has rendered to the Society, and expressed a wish for his speedy recovery to normal health.
